JobFit Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 8, 2026

JobFit ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that matches your resume against job postings found in your Gmail inbox. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected.

1. Data the extension accesses

• Gmail emails — The extension reads emails you have labeled resumes and jobposts in your Gmail account. Only those labeled emails are read; no other email is accessed.
• Job posting pages — When a job email contains a URL, the extension may fetch the linked page to extract the full job description for analysis.

2. How your data is used

Resume text and job posting text are sent to a large language model (LLM) API of your choice (Groq, OpenAI, Anthropic, or a locally-running Ollama instance) to generate a match score and summary. No other use is made of your data.

3. Data storage

• Analysis results are stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage. They are never uploaded to any server.
• Optional prompt logs are saved to your local Downloads folder for your own inspection.

4. Early access email collection

When you first sign in, JobFit automatically collects your Gmail address and stores it securely on Cloudflare's infrastructure. This is used solely to contact you about JobFit product updates and early access features. Your email address is never shared with third parties or used for advertising. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us via GitHub Issues.

5. Data sharing

The extension does not share your data with the developer or any third party, except for the LLM API you configure. Please review the privacy policy of your chosen LLM provider:

6. Data the extension never collects

• No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind.
• No personal information is sent to the developer's servers.
• No data is sold or used for advertising.

7. Permissions explained

• identity / gmail.readonly — Required to authenticate with Gmail and read your labeled emails.
• storage — Stores your settings and analysis results locally in the browser.
• downloads — Saves optional prompt logs to your Downloads folder.
• tabs / scripting / host permissions — Used to open and extract text from job posting pages linked in your emails, which may be hosted on any domain.
